If you started doing some serious searching, you will see the numbers of discussions centered on car dealerships Chicago. You are smart to be here reading on this subject matter only because of course it is relevant to you, but knowing more can potentially help in other ways. While we cannot be sure about you, we do tend to think you will discover this on your own. As you read what we have put together for you, think about your own needs and see how this information can work for you.

Even if you feel that a particular application or piece of information does not speak to you directly, we urge you to have an open mind about it.

A long time ago, you could actually go to a filling station and the attendant will not only fill your gas tank, but clean your windows and check your fluids. These days the vast majority of drivers don’t have any idea how to check the fluid levels or what they are even for. Most are happy to go in for an oil change every now and then, and let them check the fluid levels.

Even though we are offering a solid overview with some pertinent details about car dealerships in Chicago, there is much more than you may realize. If you think this is all there is, then that is not true at all which is only to your favor. As you go through this, some things will standout more than others, but do not throw the baby out with the bathwater, either. Do not make the error of judging too soon, and that is really all we can say about that. There have been more than a few times when our own minds were a little closed to some ideas and suggestions, but we learned that is not necessarily the way to go. As you continue to read, try to make new connections between what you are learning as well as what you already know and have brought to the table. That is never a bad thing even though it can seem like a lot to take in. On older vehicles you should check every couple of weeks, simply because they normally are losing oil somewhere. You may not need this for older cars or trucks. If your automatic transmission fluid must be checked, it will be easy to find it toward the rear of the engine. Check the owner’s guide book to find out how to check it. You will definitely need to have the car on while staying in the neutral or park position. You should have the engine heated up by driving around to obtain an accurate reading. You may just need to execute this once a year unless you notice the fluid is leaking.

When you begin to see, we tend to feel you will not only have a greater appreciation for what is going on, but you will be able to use that as leverage. Knowledge really does empower people, when they use it, and yes we know that may sound a little cliche. Your efforts to discover more on this subject will eventually prove to be liberating for you. In older vehicles you need to check every couple of weeks, because they normally are losing oil somewhere. More recent cars or trucks much less often. When your automatic transmission fluid has to be checked, it will be easy to find it toward the rear of the engine. If you don’t know how to examine it, your car manual can give the information you need. To evaluate, the vehicle needs to be parked or in neutral as the car engine is running. You should have the engine warmed by driving around to obtain an accurate reading. You may not need to do it as typically as oil but make sure that there are no leaks present.

If you would like to check the car’s coolant level, never do it after you just finished using your car. It is possible to get bad burns by being splashed by the hot coolant. Coolant levels can be looked at in an overflow bottle located in many cars. Your car or truck’s power steering additionally uses fluids, so they must be checked regularly. See the car owners manual to search for the exact location. The braking mechanism fluid is the one other thing to take into account as well. Paint can be dissolved if you are not careful when handling brake fluid.

The windshield wiper fluid is perhaps the easiest one that you ought to check on a regular basis. It is usually easy to locate and you just fill it with washer fluid as it demands it, if it overflows, it can’t hurt anything.

There are plenty of car dealerships Chicago but not a one can compare to Bill Kay Chevy! Some of the car dealerships in Chicago try, but they will never be as wonderful!

You’re about to cash in your vacation time and hit the road. You’ve been looking forward to this motorcycle ride all year, and now it’s finally time. There’s just one question you need to ask yourself: Will you be wearing a helmet?

Ladies and gentlmen, settle down! It’s clear the helmet laws are a topic best left for late night discussions among best friends. Talking to strangers at biking rallies about helmet laws is like talking to someone from another state about your political reviews. It is a topic that has a clear line dividing the popular thought.

Before you decide to go riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet, you should make yourself familiar with the laws of your state. There are a number of states that require riders of either 18, 19, or 21 or below to wear helmets when riding. Other states require the rider to always wear a helmet, regarless of age! There are just 2 states that do not have any helmet restriction for anyone of any age.

So whether you’ve decided to wear a helmet on your own, or you live in one of the 20 states that require you to wear a helmet, the next great decision you will have to make is what kind of helmet to use. There are different kinds to choose from and advantages to each. To find the perfect helmet for you, you should check out helmets for sale online. There are some great deals out there!

There are 3 distinct styles of motorcycle helmets. Which helmet you end up buying really depends on what kind of experience you want while riding. If you want the safest possible experience, and an assurance of (comparative) safety during a crash, you really should go with the full face helmet. This helmet covers the entire head, and the area over the face (except the eyes and nose, where a sun-reflecting shield is. If you crave the sensation of air on your face, and the ability to see better, definitely go with the open face helmet. Because the helmet does not go over your face, it is not safer than the full face helmet. Finally there is the modular helmet, which allows the front piece to move up and over the face so you can switch easily between open and full face helmets.

Of course, wearing any helmet is going to be safer than going with out one, but you have to ask yourself; is it worth the risk? For some, it is. But others will never be convinced, and proabaly do not live in a state that requires mandatory helmet wearing when driving a motorcycle.

If you’re looking for some sweet new music releases to bring on vacation with you this summer, check out my my new music site.

Locking differentials have a lot of differences compared to standard car devices. The main difference is increased traction compared to open devices because the locking device restricts each wheel on the axle to a constant rotating speed.

Locked differentials are useful for off-road vehicles since they have the same parts as open ones but the hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric mechanisms offer uniqueness because they lock output pinions together. A switch activated manually puts any of these mechanisms in use locking both wheels at the same speed, regardless of whether one wheel is on the ground or not.

If the differential were unlocked or open each wheel would have the ability to spin at a different speed to avoid tire friction that would occur when the car is making turns. During the process of turning each wheel on the axle would maintain the same torque or rotation energy if at different speeds or even if one of the tires on the axle was not spinning at all.

An automatic locker differential locks and unlocks with no help at all from the driver. This type of differential guarantees engine power to each wheel no matter whether there is traction or not, and unlocks under certain conditions say if a wheel needs to rotate faster than the other which is true during turns.

The Detroit locker replaces the differential carrier structure entirely. The lunchbox locker substitutes the internal spider mechanism and shaft with plates that interlock. The Detroit locker and lunchbox are both auto lockers that will permit variate speed on the wheel but nonetheless lock each shaft axle if traction demands that it do so.

A selectable locker is just what is sounds like a locked differential that can be unlocked or locked by the driver depending on the selection. This happens when pneumatics or compressed air is used as well as a cable device. So the differential can be opened and locked again at will of the driver.

Locking differentials are used for race cars for steady traction during maneuvers at high speeds and for very fast acceleration. Forklifts, tractors, tow trucks, and other heavy equipment also use locking differentials because of the need to maintain traction on muddy, soft, or non level surfaces.

The Powertrax Lockright locker is an excellent choice for any driver wanting to get awesome off-road performance while maintaining a tight budget. You can find those and even Detroit Truetrac locker products at MY4BY OFF ROAD.

The primary task of a ring and pinion gear system is to help in movement of wheels of cars and trucks. Such a system provides requisite extra power required by pick-up trucks and rear-wheel cars. The ratio of grooves of these two components has an important impact on power generated by the vehicle. Some information regarding how ring & pinion gears work is provided in following lines.

It is worthwhile to have prior understanding of its construction which can be somewhat complex for many individuals. Transfer of movement from engine to wheels is made possible by its help. Engine of a vehicle is connected with it via a drive shaft, which makes necessary conversion of movement.

Size of vehicle, where this gear system will be used, has a tremendous impact on size of a pinion gear. It can have diameter as big as four inches, as small as two inches or anywhere in between these two figures. It has an intricate shape which resembles a cone cut from its top.

This gear is connected with ring gear at a ninety degree angle. This baroque construction helps in transfer of engine movement to the rear wheels in a suitable manner. Rear-wheel driven cars, pick-up trucks etc are able to move only due to such construction.

Diameter of the ring gear ranges between six inches and twelve inches. Like its counterpart, its size is dependent on size of vehicle in which it is going to be used. Its gears are made in such a way that these fit perfectly into slots of pinion gear. Sufficient care is taken in order to minimize friction.

A metal housing, known as differential gearbox, keeps this gear system in its place. A bearing is made use of in order to serve a couple of purposes. The primary purpose of this bearing is reduction in friction and keeping two components of this system in contact.

A similar construction is found in revolving doors as well. In case of such doors, central shaft does the work of the engine and outer portion moves with its help. This gear system performs the task of conversion of movement of central shaft into that of the outer portion.

Above information can help in interested individuals in understanding how ring & pinion gears work. In addition to the same, they ought to know that performing lubrication of systems is very important. In its absence, parts which come into contact with each other can get damaged after short time of usage.

4WD enthusiasts prefer a set of heavy duty ring and pinion gears and one of the best axles for housing them is the Dana 60 ring and pinion.

Limited Slip Differentials (LSD) system has an interesting yet intricate working mechanism. This system has an important role in functioning of certain vehicles as well. Vehicles designed for moving on difficult terrains tend to have this system in place. An insight is provided into working of working of this system in the lines that follow.

LSD systems may not be found in simpler vehicles for obvious reasons. These vehicles do not have to cross natural terrains every other day and are designed to provide normal output. These systems are suited for SUVs, ATVs and other such vehicles whose owners love scaling difficult terrains on regular basis.

Most popular LSD type is a clutch type one. It is different from basic LSD system because of presence of spring system and clutches. These two components have an important role in its functioning. Their importance stems out of intricate construction of this system.

During normal operation, spring pack pushes the side gears towards clutches. Clutches in turn are attached with a cage. It must be noted that clutches remain out of picture until an external condition forces them to come into action. Wheels are prevented from rotating at a faster pace relative to each other by clutches.

A significantly higher sum of torque is required to overcome the resisting action of clutches. The need for same generally arises when a wheel gets stuck anywhere. Such need may also arise in case the vehicle gets into an awkward position where one of the wheels loses contact with the surface.

The amount of torque which needs to be supplied to overpower clutches is dependent on stiffness of their springs. Higher the stiffness of these springs, higher would be the torque required for this purpose. Friction can also result in significant increase of this torque and ought to be controlled.

The break-in period of a clutch has to be given due consideration as well. Manufacturers tend to issue instructions in this regard which ought to be referred for smooth operation. Not following the same can lead to uncomfortable operation and irreparable damage as well.

Vehicle owners are responsible for regular maintenance and servicing of their vehicles. Clutch type Limited Slip Differentials should be repaired on regular intervals as per usage of the vehicle under question. It is recommended that oil be replaced after the vehicle has run over one hundred thousand kilometers or seventy thousand miles.

There are many ways to imrpove your differential and two of the best on the market are the Powertrax Lock Right locker and the Detroit Lockers. Both brands have units to fit your budget and are available through MY4BY.com.

It is a problem that many people tend to experience all the time when they are driving down the road. This is called road bump. While you may have never heard of this, chances are that you have been a victim of this situation. This is caused by shocks and struts that have worn out and are in desperate need to be replaced.

The shocks on a car are the things that keep it from going down to hard a jarring a person while driving. Think of these in the same way that you would a bicycle pump.

These work on the basic concept as that of a pump. For all effects and purposes, that is exactly what they are for a car, they are little bicycle pumps that help to keep a car stable.

There is not a lot that is involved in the replacement of these parts on a vehicle. The most important task that needs to be done is making sure that you have the right size for the vehicle that you drive. A compact will have smaller shocks and struts than a pick up truck, but any reputable shop will assure you get the correct part numbers for your application.

Shocks are relatively easy to change and require basic minimal tools and some time. Most products will have the instructions for changing them included. If not, then get a repair manual for your vehicle and see if that will be able to assist you in your efforts.

If you are the type that prefers to let someone else do the work, then this will cost a little extra, as they will charge for parts and labor that was used on the car. No matter what you decide to do, this is not a complicated process.

These are the basics that a person needs to know when it comes to shocks and struts. This is a piece of the car that has to remain in proper working order, while it will not keep the car from running, it will make a person regret driving with these needing to be replaced. Make sure that at the first signs that they are wearing, that you replace these and are quick to do so. This will make the family vacation a lot more enjoyable for all that are involved. Your family will thank you for the effort.

Many customers now ask for the Rancho quick LIFT series of lift struts when it comes time to replace their factory parts. These struts are the newest product available from the Rancho shocks suspension products.

Have instant access to what you need, when you need it with the Hitchsafe Key Vault. The HitchSafe is a secure way to store your credit cards, cash, and keys and give yourself peace of mind.

Have instant access to what you need, when you need it with the Hitchsafe Key Vault. The HitchSafe is a secure way to store your credit cards, cash, and keys and give yourself peace of mind.

If you have a truck, car, SUV, or van with a 2″ trailer hitch receiver the HitchSafe will work. It slide on to the receiver hitch, and is secured with two bolt retaining bars inside the Hitchsafe.

The solid steel Hitch Receiver forms a steel vault when combined with the HitchSafe. This provides the most secure place on your vehicle to store spare keys, credit cards, cash, and driver’s license. To open the safe you merely lift off the rubber dust cover (made to look like a normal hitch cover so the safe goes undetected), and enter your 4 digit combination.

The safe is contained within the solid steel structure of the Hitch Receiver via a combination where only YOU can access your keys when needed. The safe is always there when you need it, unlike magnetic key holders which are prone to falling off. Magnetic Hide-A-Keys provide no security, allowing any car thief easy access to your vehicle (if it hasn’t already joined the millions laying on the side of the road) since everyone knows where it is hidden.

NOTE: The 2005-2010 Toyota Tacoma and 2007-2010 Toyota Tundra OEM Hitch Receivers require longer pins to work with the safe.

Easy installation of the Safe into the receiver:

1. Take dust cover off.

2. Set drawer dials to opening combination factory default (0-0-0-0).

3. Push down on the drawer release to take the drawer out

4. Remove both pins and foam washers, and insert HitchSafe into your hitch receiver.

5. Line up the safe pin holes with the receiver’s pin holes. You may need to remove one of the foam spacers.

6. Pull pin retaining bars out to their fullest extent.

7. Insert pin and foam washer into the hole of the receiver and safe. Push the sliding bar in so that the bar locks pin in place the fitting into groove on the end of the pin.

8. Put the combination drawer (refer to drawer directions below) back in. Make sure drawer release lever is up to latch and then scramble dials.

9. Place the top part of dustcover so metal hooks at top fit into slots on top of safe flange. Click solidly into place bottom cover releases into their corresponding slots at bottom of safe flange.

Combination drawer instructions:

1. Set to current opening combination (factory default 0-0-0-0).

2. Test to make sure you are on opening combination by flipping down drawer release.

3. Turn to reset screw (on the of the face rim) clockwise 90 degrees to vertical position.

4. Set dials to your desired opening combination. Write this number down!

5. Return the reset screw counter clockwise to horizontal position.

6. Check the dials to be sure you have your correct number and the TEST YOUR COMBINATION before placing it into the HitchSafe by scrambling the dials, setting it to your combination and the confirming the drawer release flips down.

There are grooves in the drawer and in the safe body that will accommodate up to 2 cards (Driver’s license & credit card) when placed in a right hand angle ” / ” Don’t put more than two cards as the slots only allow room for two.

When changing the combination always test the combination prior to inserting the drawer into the safe. The drawer can only be inserted into the safe when the correct combination is set. The dials can only be turned when the drawer release is in the up position.

Comes With: Hitch Cover, Flange Foam pieces, Standard hitch pins, Locking drawer, and Instructions.

Features:

Secure – 10,000 possible combinations

Durable – All metal construction

Zero Locking – Open the safe in the dark

Easy to Use

Easy to Change the Combination

Rust Resistant

NEVER Be Locked Out Again!

Fits multiple automotive keys, house keys, credit cards or license

One Year Manufacturer Warranty

HitchSafe body fits standard 2″ Hitch Receiver. Adjustable for pin hole variances. Maximum hole reach from front of receiver to middle of pin hole is 2-9/16″. Maximum body depth into receiver is 4-3/8″.

Inner Dimensions of drawer:

Width- 32mm (1-1/4″)

Length- 90mm (3-9/16″)

Height- 45mm” (1-3/4″)

Fits 2 cards diagonally (credit card or license)

Compatibility: The safe fits all makes and models of 2 inch trailer hitch to include RVs, all OEM and all aftermarket hitch receivers except the following. 2005-2010 Toyota Tacoma and 2007-2010 Toyota Tundra OEM Hitch Receivers require longer pins to work with the Hitchsafe.

Owner Testimonials:

“This key vault is a great idea. I have extra keys for everything in it and will never lock myself out of the house again!”

“I lock my keys in my car once a month. The hitchsafe gives me the peace of mind that if it happens I don’t need to call my husband, the police, or break the window to get in. I am in sales and I am in and out of my car 10 times a day. I like knowing it is there. It was very easy to install and you can not tell it is even on the car. Thanks for my peace of mind!”

Wheel slip means that two wheels are in contact with the ground two wheels are not. It can be unsettling and frustrating, since your vehicle will not move. Using traction adding devices gives you the ability to use your vehicle anywhere you want.

Wheel slip occurs because the differential is still sending the same amount of torque to all the tires, but two are not moving and two are spinning wildly, so they are frantically trying to find solid ground.

Traction adding devices, including a limited slip differential, or LSD, work to lock the axle. They can solve your problem in a variety of ways. There are several types to choose from. When searching for an LSD, also look for other terms like lockers or locking differentials.

Spools and Mini Spools

To achieve the effect of an LSD, a spool replaces the side and spider gears on the differential, creating a solid axle. This is the most inexpensive method. It makes both tires spin at the same rate to improve tire traction. One of the problems with this is premature tire wear, particularly on pavement. The locking makes one of the tires skid when driving around sharp corners, but can be reduced to a certain extent by uniform air pressure in the tires. Spools are not the best solution unless your vehicle is used only for off-road driving.

Trac Locs and Limited Slips

Limited Slips and Trac Locs include the use of clutches that are lubricated. They catch on the side gears, resulting in the same solid axle. The torque is equalized as clutches grab the axle shaft. Best for driving on pavement, or getting out of mud, this LSD does have some problems. They must be spinning quickly to catch, causing wearing on clutch plates.

Automatic Lockers

More popular than LSDs that use clutches, light and heavy-duty lockers, with their ratched-style teeth are an improvement. They give you the ability to drive on and off pavement, retaining good performance off-road. Cost-effective, these are the most popular lockers available.

Selectable Lockers

High-tech options are available which allow the driver to choose when the differential is locked. The most expensive types of LSDs may be worth it if you are looking for better solutions that allow you to freely use your vehicle on and off pavement.

Three lockers at the top of the list are air, electric and manual LSDs. Air lockers work to lock gears using compressed air. Electric lockers make use of an electronic solenoid. Manual lockers engage using a cable. The use of traction adding devices can make your vehicle a contender in any situation.

Powertrax Lock Right lockers offers superb off-road performance with a small price tag. When that won’t do, the ARB Air Locker is the ultimate in off-road traction with street comfort.

Off road vehicle owners are challenge takers and thrill seekers. To tackle the challenges and increase the thrill, many enthusiasts begin to customize and modify their 4X4 vehicle as soon as they get it. Some modifications and some new off road parts can greatly improve off road excursions. An off roader can go to extreme limits after adding the five most popular 4X4 vehicle modifications.

Installing new shock absorbers is, usually, one of the first modifications a 4X4 owner will make. Shock absorbers from the factory leave a lot to be desired. Worn or insufficient shocks can be hazardous, on or off the road. Monotube, multitube, hydraulic, bypass, gas, and air shocks are some options. Coilover shocks are a great choice for many. Remote control shock absorbers are convenient and cool.

Manual locking hubs are another common modification on 4X4s. Hubs can be automatic or manual. Automatic hubs are convenient, unless there is a malfunction, but in terms of overall reliability and strength, manual locking hubs are the preferred choice. Manual hubs allow the driver to engage and disengage the front hubs as needed. Disengaging the hubs provides a smoother, quieter ride on the road.

Additional traction is very beneficial when four wheeling over varied terrain. Most 4X4 enthusiasts are not satisfied with “limited-slip” differentials. Manual or automatic locking differentials are preferred by most drivers. A locker, sometimes called a Detroit Locker or a Powertrax Lock Right, will dispatch 100% of the engine torque to both wheels on the axle. Some choose the manual lockers for reduced noise and a smoother on road ride, when deactivated.

Big tires are impressive. In addition to other upgrades and offroad parts, almost every 4X4 driver buys bigger wheels. Larger tires provide ground clearance. Owners can choose from bias tires or radial tires. Bias tires can’t be beat for crawling rocks, traversing trails, and rolling in the mud. However, they are uncomfortable, noisy, and lack durability on the road. Radial tires are more durable and provide a much more pleasant ride on pavement. Deep, angled mud terrain and rock crawling treads are best for off road conditions.

After purchasing larger tires, a lift kit will probably be needed. Small, medium, and large size lift kits are available whether they be suspension or body lift kits. Small will give the vehicle about 1.5 inches. Medium provides about two inches. Large will provide four inches or more. Spring lift, shackle, reverse shackle, coil, and spring over axle are options for 4X4 suspension lifts. 1, 2, and 3-inch spacers are the options for body lift kits.

Thousands of quality 4X4 parts, manuals, kits, and big tires can be found online. The web is a great resource for information and advice about off roading, as well. Vehicle modifications affect the performance and handling. Be sure to allow for these adjustments.

Rancho quickLIFT shocks provide shock absorption and a suspension lift in one. Rancho shocks are the leading brand of off-road shocks on the market today.
